Boro Futon - Antique Indigo Cottons with Dense Sashiko Stitching
Outstanding boro patchwork indigo cotton textile with extensive sashiko stitching.
A wide variety of textiles have been used to create this futon. Mostly double layered, heavy weight cotton fabrics.
This textile may have been used as a shiki-futon (futon underquilt or padding).
Beautiful display piece. We are quite fond of the heavily tattered proper front side.
Late 1800's to Early 1900's
