Boro Futon - White boro Meiji era futon

A very rare boro futon with white and beige cotton ground from early 1900s.
The proper front of this futon cover is a graphic indigo square in the center panel - much like a bold modernist painting. The layers of cotton repair are disintegrating to reveal the surface beneath. It would look truly stunning properly mounted and framed or backed and hung on the wall.
The reverse is a flurry of white and indigo cotton patches. The cloth used for repair throughout is hand spun and handwoven.
There is staining and soiling throughout but in otherwise good condition given it's age, use, and rarity - most lighter cottons would be overdyed with indigo when they became too soiled.
