Sakiori Kotatsugake - Edo Era Indigo Rug

$1,500.00

Indigo sakiori kotatsugake, or hearth cover.

'Sakiori' is a woven fabric that is produced from worn out cloth and garments torn thinly and then woven tightly into clothing and other products for daily use.

This kotatsugake has a very rich and handsome quality - variegated hues of indigo from years of use and subtle red and white stripes. A lot of consideration went into the creation of this piece.

In overall very good condition, considering it's age. There are two small holes in the third panel and a small tear in the lower right panel.

Late 1800's
Dimensions: 68" length; 65.5 width
