Tsunobukuro - Undyed Hemp Horn Bag

$350.00

Japanese hemp tsuno-bukuro, or "horn bag"

Tsuno-bukuro are composed of a single long piece of hand-woven fabric, sewn together on the bias to produce this horn-shaped bag. The bias construction of a tsuno-bukuro is useful because it allows the fabric to stretch and therefore support a heavy load. It also protects the stitching from exposure. Typically, these types of bags were used to transport or store grains in old Japan.

This bag is hand stitched from one piece of beautiful undyed hemp cloth, and has a wonderful texture and feel. It is in excellent condition without tears or stains.
